After the great success of our inaugural cycle on the Greenway last year, RESPECT is delighted to announce that the 2016 ‘RESPECT Greenway Cycle & Walk’ will take place on Saturday 14th May 2016.
This is a very family friendly event, and the route goes from Achill to Westport, followed by a GALA Dinner on the night in Hotel Westport. The Hotel are offering preferential rates to all RESPECT participants.
Greenway Cycle Route
The Cycle is 42 kms long, and stretches from Achill to Westport.
If you would prefer to walk, there 3 walking distances:
Mulranny to Newport (17 kms)
Newport to Westport (11 kms)
Mulranny to Westport (28 kms)
This event is both a sporting and social event. All participants are asked to base themselves in Westport as transport to the starting point has been arranged from here. There is also a Gala Dinner taking place in Hotel Westport after the event has finished. The dinner is complimentary for all participants.
Getting to Westport
If you are driving to Westport, we can arrange to transport your bicycle to the start line. If you are travelling by rail, the 7.35am from Dublin Heuston arrives into Westport at 10.55am. View the timetable here. We can arrange to collect you and your bike from the station and bring you to the starting point.
Accommodation
The special rates below have been agreed with Hotel Westport for cyclists and their families:

- 2 nights B&B @ €168 per person sharing
- Children 4-12 sharing with parents @ €25 per night including breakfast
- Children 13-16 @ €35 sharing with parents including breakfast
- Single room Friday @€89 B&B
- Single room Saturday @ €109 B&B
You can avail of these rates by booking online at Hotel Westport and entering the promo code ‘Respect’ into the ‘optional’ box. These rates will be available until 1 May 2016. Alternatively other accommodation information is available at the Greenway Cycle site.
Bicycle Transport/Rental
The cycle starts at 11.30am from Achill. If you wish to bring your own bicycle we can arrange to transport it from Westport to the starting point on the Saturday morning. For local bike rentals and map trails check out www.greenway.ie.
Registration and Fundraising
We ask that participants raise a minimum of €100 per person. Please register for this event below. This event has been set up on mycharity.ie so that you can set up your fundraising page.
