Meet the Researchers
RESPECT will fund up to 40 researchers between now and 2019 through its research institute DOCTRID to investigate how assistive technologies and other supports can increase communication, social inclusion, education and employment for people with ID or autism.
The research programmes, the €9M ASSISTID co-funded by the European Commission and the RESPECT and the Michigan State University-DOCTRID Hegarty programme have a number of aims
- To increase our understanding of ID and autism
- To raise awareness of the potential of technology as a tool to support people in their everyday lives
- To train a new and unique cohort of researchers and practitioners who will lead the way in changing disability policy and practice
